2007-2008
A Chicago sketch comedy group I joined in 2007 during their 9th stage production of just sketch material. One of the first groups that I’ve been involved with for awhile that feels like a strong mix of ideas and forward motion thinking not afraid to do the kind of writing that make people moan and want to leave the show early saying “Why did they have to go there?”
Though I still keep in contact with most members of the group and working together in the future is very likely, there is currently nothing going on with my involvement with the group other then archiving old footage and stuff from 2007-08. This group proved alot of things to me, some old and bad and some new and learned- mainly if you have passionate people working together you can achieve more in the end. The biggest downfall of the group I felt is just that its really REALLY hard these days to stick with a format that was workable back when I started doing sketch comedy and that is a live show. With the dawn of internet and Youtube we all really have to step back and focus more on a international crowd rather then a local group of fans, which as nice as it can be= will never be anything worth longterm tv offers or touring the country. Its too much of a “market” now, nobody want’s to go out on a Saturday night and spend money for a show- they want to veg on the couch and watch it for free…which is a shame but I understand and have watched this happen over the last 10 years with myself as well. I feel the only way a live show will work these days is a steady venue and a weekly show to build that following rather then a one month run or whatever. Sad but true as we found, and what most of the inner drama consisted of.
All together looking back, I had a good time returning to the stage and the Vincent/Robert team helped me feel like I was getting back into a seasoned group rather then a bunch of first time kids.
