Based on the old Folgers Coffee commercials, I wanted to test out a shoot entirely on slow motion at various frame rates with the RED Epic.
Setup during a day for pre-production and shot planning (where we found the GoPro to be very tricky to get to work as you can’t preview real-time slow motion on the app). Day 2 was shooting and figuring out the best frame rates to use per shot based on the action involved, other than the coffee grinds I think it was kept around 96 fps.
Grading the GoPro footage next to the RED was another challenge and even with protune and flat color space I had blowout issues and had to give into a “learning” experience with not being able to correct everything the way I wanted to.
