The concept for the “Heartattack’ music video (the second one for ‘the New Loud‘) I came up with was simple – What would happen in everyday situations of “home life” “work-life” and “nightlife” if you had people in your life screwing up your daily routine? The “people” I thought would be blow-up dolls= duh!
The video was shot entirely on Canon 5d Mark II with a combo of the 24-70mm and 70-200mm canon lens with some Steadicam featuring Zeiss primes. My rig is a Cinevate inc DSLR Core Package w/shoulder mount and a Zacuto Z finder with a Manfrotto 504HD Head w/535 2-Stage Carbon Fiber Tripod System.
The performance and “work-life” was shot on a Saturday and the “home life” and “nightlife” were shot on a Sunday- all in Milwaukee.
As with all videos I write and direct- I tried to keep the “effects” in the camera and we did a lot of puppet work from off-screen for this video. Special thanks to everyone involved and of course the New Loud for letting me do my second video with them.
Jason has a great visual sense. He makes creative use of what’s available (which really helps with budgeting). The band I’m in – The New Loud – will continue to hire him for photo and video work because the results look fantastic and he’s fun to work with!
