Johnson Space Center documentary footage from "Vivre Dans L'Espace" shot by cinematographer Jason Kraynek

From the 2013 French documentary “Vivre Dans L’Espace” (Living in Space) from director Laura Farrenq, shot on a Canon C300 by cinematographer Jason Kraynek, at the NASA Johnson Space Center and LA Convention Center.

Featuring Carly Watts, Mike Gernhardt, Rick Tumlinson, Mark Geyer, Jim Broyan, and Albert Globus.

‘With an increasing world population, dwindling resources, and disasters repeated nuclear attacks, the future of humanity on Earth is now in question. But where give back then? The immense and infinite space, therefore, imposes itself on us as evidence. But what are the economic, physiological, and technological constraints that humans must overcome to achieve this? And once up there, where to get the energy?
This is a challenge facing laboratories around the world. But could we be completely independent of the Earth and live in autarky over several generations? Could we consider making a planet habitable by recreating an atmosphere close to that of Earth?
With space prowess and scientific advances, space is no longer frightening….’

Shot over the course of 2 days, with a one-man crew of myself + location rep at the NASA Johnson Space Center. My footage was used throughout the documentary that aired on Sky Arts / BBC.
