FUKFASHION 1977 – XX
I’ve always considered myself to be a performer in some sense’s, and for as long as I can remember I have always entertained myself if not anyone else. Starting with performing magic tricks to my family, recording radio shows on my tape deck, live concerts in my backyard, GIjoe action movies, or whatever- i have always kept myself busy. Though back in 1977, everyone didn’t have a video recorder (I being one of those people) so I had to resort to other method’s such as audio tape, drawing, and writing. Since the dawn of me finally getting a VHS camcorder back in 1996ish I have been taping bits- some I have and can one day upload, but most sadly are missing in the years.
Since being turned onto drama my senior year of high school, I have been involved in plays, shows, movies, sketch/improv groups, and things in the middle. When not doing that I resort back to myself, a camera, and a video archive larger then most people know. The one thing that has always remained the same in my life through all these groups I have been a part of is drama, as with life its not intended yet always comes out somehow. My counteraction to that was to do things on my own (as with my photography being a development of nobody to perform with) thus my video collection.
My recent work has stemmed from the creation of youtube in a global setting, unlike myspace- this is actually (most of the time) a site for people of talent, creativity, or something to share with the world. Though I’ve not a fan of the Britney Spears guy- he did do one thing= prove that all you need is a outlet to share with the world and people can see you outside of your zipcode. One of my biggest problems over the years was being seen through all of my groups, we all wanted to be know- yet we didn’t have a national TV show nor the funds to mount a national tour so we were pretty screwed either way. Once youtube became a hit I started to produce self improv pieces called FUKfashion video blogs, I didn’t really care about what they ended up becoming- I mainly just found a welcome release in the fact that I could do something in a day and by the evening show it to people worldwide. It was a incredible experience and one that I hope to continue once I purchase a working camcorder now that mine has took a dump.
I’ve been involved with many sketch groups, all with their share of drama, and have toyed with the idea for a few years now of a “open sketch group”. This is the focus of FUKfashion, a group project that is under my control but I leave open to work with other friends, partners, and writers but always under my say so. I’ve been doing things on the side for years now without really a need to put them into a section until recently as I archive and backlog my work- those things are now under this title. In the coming months I plan to purchase a new camcorder and invite a selected few people into the project from time to time, maybe something else will come of it- but for now I plan to just keep it as my outlet to new work and new submissions.

MONGO LIKE CANDY 2002-2004
The combined power that was the core of late Charming Hooligan fame, Chris, Marty, and myself, went onto join Paul Douglas on a Clearwater, FL public access sketch show. Though taking over a year to put together a 30 minute show due to schedules, shifting members, and commitment… the end result was many awards for the pilot episode as well as getting the footage into various film fests and on Netflix even.
This was one of the only groups I’ve been involved with that kept the humor on a PC level and tried to write clean material based on Paul’s direction and wishes. I normally would be again this kind of thing but I trusted the members of the group and we put out some really good material in the short time we were together. The group was encouraged to dig through old sketches and write new ones to submit for the show- this brought out MANY suggestions to Mongo that I have tried to push in Hooligans and Horse that never saw the light Are you Firing Me?, Smith, Potter, and Dale, and Predictably Incorrect, along with others).
In the end, MLC was the first sketch group that I was with that got a chance to film in a real studio and actually got noticed in some sort of mainstream way. That was to say alot after so many years of pushing my own groups into the public view- this was the first one that actually had a agent, sales, and people in Japan seeing it before youtube broke into the world officially. It was a short run, well not really run but collection of ideas that came out with some rewarding results, so I can’t say to much about the group other then the fact that the 3 people most focused on the project Paul Douglas, Chris Gorges, and have alot more to submit in the coming years.

JNJ STUDIOS 1996-2002
Joe and I have been involved and performing together since 1996 in various improv and sketch groups. As a side project (sometimes during, sometimes on off time throughout groups) we would do short improv/sketch bits not really linked to anything other then the need to produce something. Most times this consisted of road trips that we had a camera handy, trips to denny’s, meeting with ex members, whatever….it was interesting when we were together always.
Be it that the year was the mid 90s and having a camcorder was rare, any kind of editing software REALLY rare, and any kind of way of sharing sketches other then live shows or inviting people over our place to watch VHS- IMPOSSIBLE
thus the dawn of youtube and the backlog of uploads I have started to do now that there is a website at our reach. That being said, most of these bits were never written, never planned, or never really meant to be seen by anyone other then us.
