Game- Pop Tarts

A game that I kinda made up one night by bringing a pop tarts box and writing various phrases on pieces of paper and inserting them into a a scene, this moved into giving the audience the chance to write suggestions of lines on paper and submit them to us to say live during the game. It went over so well that it became our closing game for every show and most likely one of the things that we were best know for.

I’ve been performing for most of my life and through that whole time have had many experiences and moments that I consider to be special enough to recall even a decade later. Of my top 5 moments ever doing improv, I will always put this piece in that section of my life and career.

It was a incredible piece to be a part of and one that came at the very end of a excellent show at Mothers Milk (in which we performed every friday night for about 1 1/2 years).

After watching 10 years later- I still feel that its one of the best and a great example of how Marty, Chris, Joe (even though hes not in this one), and myself carried the group to a cult standpoint for a few years- and one that I am proud to share online after all this time.

Poptarts, was our fan favorite game as it gave them a chance to be part of the actual scene by writing down lines that we would insert randomly into the scene we were playing. Sometimes we received so many submissions that I had to post the best unused ones online, and one time (in a tape that I will be uploading soon) we played a entire night of Poptarts- really really fun for us and the fans.

Overall, this sketch is one that I have loved sharing with my friends via VHS tape at my apt over the years- and can now finally share it with all of you.
