I know I know- wtf or where the fuk have I been?

long stories, mainly recently getting my act together and planning for a very uber productive 2008 as opposed to the healing process that 2007 was all about for me. I lost alot last year- a girlfriend, a few jobs, a company, a few months of my life= it was a “learning process” to say the very least.

So what did it teach me?
Well for starters very important lessons on trust, freelance, and living without a job in a city I know nothing about except to trust my skills and focus on a better year this time around.

Starting things off I had to make some decisions on what it is i “do” really, and most important= what it is that I want to focus on instead of everything all the time. I dont know if I solved this but I did figure a few things out in the last couple of months. First off, I found that just focusing on photography was holding up the other things I wanted to do like film, writing, music, and other projects. In the same sense it also caused me a great deal of “well if i do this, how do i do that” kinda thing. I was always worried that people (ok mainly clients) would get confused if I started, say putting video work on my photo account, and then put up some graphic design behind that…all calling it jacenkfotography.

I decided, and its odd that i didn’t figure this out before, the name “jacenk” is my company and not “jacenkfotography” “”FUKfashion” “deletenet” or any other project names I’ve been using over the years. So instead of making 34 sites a month only focusing on various things I do or have done= I’ve started work on www.jacenk.net- a master site focusing on EVERYTHING and a huge overview and starting point of all that I have, am, and are going to do. From there you can go to various project pages and whatever= but the point being….its the place you go to find out about all of my work rather then some of it spread out all over.

Which brings me to everything that I HAVE been doing recently (and yes its been alot)

FOTOGRAPHY
- the simple answer about why I havent put up new works is this….my laptop. I purchased a Dell laptop (no, not because I love Dell and will never try a Mac- but because I had a free credit and didnt have the money to buy a new anything….so Dell it was). The reason was of course

- in need of something for travel/on the road work
- a single system only for photography

Well this was nice on paper, but it turned out that the color setting on a laptop (the ones that there ARE) dont work that great and depending on the light, the angle, the settings, etc- i found that the photos i edited had a 50% chance of looking like i finished them or looking like a 2nd grader edited them. This PISSED me off for months to the point that i didnt even want to look at photos anymore. After testing out various settings- i gave up hope and tried to find another use for the laptop so i didnt feel so bad for having something that just sits there.

After I thought about it for awhile I figured to just go back to the desktop to edit and figure out what to do on the road whenever i have to decide that….no hurry as travel plans for this year fell through. This left the www.jacenkfotography, deviantart, model mayhem, fotki, myspace, etc choice of what sites I want to use as the thought (and i have tried) to update them all each photoshoot is WAY to much work. I thought to stick with the .com, but after doing research found that it wasnt really getting hits nor was it worth even $15 a month to keep. I thought of using side sites and then this weekend i made the choice to come back FULL TIME to DA for many reasons….

- people actually view my work on this site
- i actually get feedback
- the site doesn’t fuk up the image quality like say myspace
- and with all the new improvements over the years (including these new folders and features) I think that its a good place to keep with a host

Now I dont want to put everything up as one upload at a time still sucks ass, but I will upload the best as I go. I have taken a good part of today to

- go back and transfer/delete all of my scraps into main folders
- set up a featured list of all of my favs left on this site
- setup folders with basic sections for quick nav

I still want to do alot of redesigning this site but as of now its going to have to wait as I focus on launching www.jacenk.net (which I was going to wait awhile to do until I get it done, but then I thought about how much I add and redo each week and decided that it will NEVER launch if i do that so I’ve got the basics and will add as the next few months go until all I then need to do is the daily updates).

FUKfasion
Ive also finally got a camcorder again last year so that I can once again get into the realm of video and film work. As with photos, my work with all be lead back to www.jacenk.net but the main subsite for videos will be

I’ve also started to transfer and archive various sketches, interviews, live clips, etc from my past groups and projects and those are up there as well (MANY more hours to come of archives to as I have tapes and tapes of them). Ive gotten really inspired these past few months with vlogging and indie films like Four Eyed Monsters- that have given me the strength to know that I can do it on my own and no longer have to worry so much about outside commitments and having to always need help to get things done. The beauty of things these days that is so different from when i was doing it 10 years ago is programs mainly (ie. I can now edit with all the professional equipment that I never had before). With that at my fingertips I can do solo work that was never before possible and a LARGE number of other things that I await the chance to play with as well.

IN CLOSING
There is alot of things aside from photos and film that I want to do this year but as my main source of freelance income is those two- its something I wanted to share with you all. The rest of it will be talked about and featured on the new site and the rest of my sites will finally be coming back to what they are supposed to be for (IE- personal myspace is going back to personal myspace and I’m deleting everyone I added for promotional sake).
